The script once again showcases her terrific ear for regional dialogue and the ability to make us root for her characters' happiness. Hutton has woven in enough of the details from Nibroc for See Rock City to stand on its own. However, if you didn't see the train encounter that resulted in May and Raleigh's burgeoning romance, you'll have no sense of missing important parts of their story as Ms. The war still overhangs everything so the two plays are very much of a piece. Unlike some sequels, See Rock City doesn't take a giant leap forward in time. May and Raleigh's struggle to deal with the realities of their marriage, especially the constraints imposed on Raleigh's activities by the tragic limitations imposed by his epilepsy (much misunderstood in those days) is a microcosm of the macrocosm of America in the midst of World War II. It's a lovely chamber work with all the characters richly developed and enough nuances to invest the flavorful dialogue and setting with more depth than the old-fashioned, well-made play simplicity implies. Don't be surprised if this sequel has as long an after life as its predecessor. Now, See Rock City, which begins where Nibroc left off, is having its world premiere at the Miniature Theatre. Though I go to the theater often enough to risk having characters and situations grow a bit fuzzy in my mind, May and Raleigh the two young Kentuckians who made up that play's entire cast, have remained clearly imprinted in my memory. It's been almost six years since I first saw Arlene Hutton's The Last Train to Nibroc in a small Off-Broadway theater before it moved on to more than two dozen region productions, including a very successful run at the Miniature Theatre in Chester. Costabile recalled one of them, claiming that Baldi had told him to always be ready to grab his luck if it came his way.Eliza Baldi and Steve Kazee in See Rock City She has provided him with sound advice over the years. Her teaching and directing resume far surpasses his, and her theatrical experience is likely to do the same. If Costabile has done it all in acting, Baldi has done it all in a broader sense: she has experience in both theater and acting in front of the camera, as well as directing and teaching acting, directing and text analysis at prestigious institutions including the one where she graduated. She, who also has an MFA from New York University, is undoubtedly more capable than he is, at least on paper. However, if he is a master of his craft, his wife is probably better than him. The Good Wife actor, an MFA graduate of New York University, even taught acting when things got tough for him at first. ELIZA BALDI TVHe’s done it all: movies, TV shows, and plays. David Costabile met his match in the industry.ĭespite not being a big name in Hollywood, Costabile is an industry veteran. The family lives in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York. There are no recent reports of their children from either parent. “Holiday in Ireland with a one-year-old just means taking dolly to the bar,” she wrote alongside a photo of a pink-clad doll being placed in front of a tall glass of Guinness and some peanuts. On August 10, 2018, Baldi joked on Instagram that she should carry her daughter’s favorite doll to the bar when she needed a drink. The family of four took a trip to Ireland after Julia was born. Julia Grace Costabile, their second child, was born in March 2017. Lucy Rae Costabile, their first child, was born in July 2015. Costabile and Baldi wanted to have children pretty soon. The celebration ended with a family-style Italian outdoor meal in the middle of a field. Their wedding theme was inspired by the ‘last moment of Felini’s Amacord’. However, it’s worth noting that their wedding date is listed on IMDb as June 25, 2012. According to their records, the couple married on June 16, 2012, in front of their family and friends at Kings Oaks Farm in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The wedding took place a little over a year later. The only thing they mention on their wedding registry website about how it happened is that they were in San Francisco. On Friday, July 22, 2011, they got engaged. It’s unclear when Costabile and Baldi first met, but by the late 2000s, they were already starting to think about getting married. The job pledges - which the company and state officials said would also produce 40,000 indirect jobs - is “kind of fantastical,” said John Kaehny, executive director of Reinvent Albany, a government watchdog group. So the 9,000 direct jobs that Micron announced it will create over the next 20-plus years was met with large dose of doubt by some groups. Cuomo resigned last year amid sexual harassment allegations, putting Hochul in a position to try to make good on the state’s long sought tech hub. Several other developers were convicted in a separate bidding scheme as part of the Buffalo Billion initiative. “Cutting-edge businesses from all over the world are deciding to build here and hire here.”īut Kaloyeros was convicted in a bid-rigging scheme in 2018, and his empire crumbled. “Right now, some of the most advanced manufacturing work in America is being done right here in upstate New York,” Obama said during the visit. Kaloyeros already had success luring top tech companies to the Albany facility to research and develop the latest in chip manufacturing - punctuated by a visit by then-President Barack Obama to the site in 2012. Andrew Cuomo’s Buffalo Billion project, anchored with nearly $1 billion in state incentives, never reached its lofty goal of Tesla building a solar factory there, and a $600 million state and federal investment pledge to create the American Institute for Manufacturing Integrated Photonics in Rochester has not come close to its pledged potential.Įarlier in his tenure, Cuomo tapped SUNY Polytechnic Institute founder Alain Kaloyeros to build a semiconductor corridor across upstate. New York has a long history of manufacturing innovation - whether it was Eastman Kodak’s start in Rochester in 1888 or IBM’s founding in Endicott near Binghamton in 1911 - but its present is an emblem of the Rust Belt. Now New York has visions of making an even larger tech hub across upstate New York. President Barack Obama visited Albany in 2016 to tout the Albany nanocenter. “This is a huge step.” A history of failed pledges “I had always hoped to make upstate New York a center of high-end manufacturing and of scientific research,” Schumer said in an interview Tuesday. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called the Micron announcement “our Erie Canal moment,” referring to the waterway whose opening in the early 1800s helped transform upstate cities into industrial epicenters until the late 20th century, when jobs went overseas and the factories closed. “Guess what? The supply chain is going to start here and end here in the United States. Three decades ago, the nation made nearly one-third of the world’s chips. President Joe Biden attended the IBM event, pledging to reverse a 30-year decline in U.S.-manufactured computer chips. The gearbox seems to be operating smoothly, and I have adjusted the worm end play to provide some clearance, but not bind. I addressed small problems within the steering column, and that no longer has any appreciable friction. When jacked up, the kingpins and linkage are all very smooth with no friction. They use a half nut for more surface contact. They even mention their steering gear box in the maintenance manual, their improvement on the usual segment and worm. Thanks, and good luck.Įdited Novemby edinmass (see edit history) Post a photo of the steering box, and front end parts.especially the spindles. #KING PINS TRUCK FULL#It was probably set up for dirt roads with a full load at lower speeds. The advantage of doing everything is when you're done, you can align it properly for todays roads and driving habits. It's probably got old rock hard grease in a joint somewhere. Installing king pins can be a huge task.making the parts, and pressing them in and out.as well as installing new bushings in the axel. Some spindles have bushings, others bearings. Usually by the time you are this deep into the steering, it's easier to just pull everything apart. I would disconnect the drag link and center link between the two spindles, get it so you can individually turn each spindle by hand. I have seen crazy things bind steering systems.a rope seal on the chrome cosmetic steering column.actually making the car steer very poorly. A 1 1/2 ton truck is just about the same as a Cadillac or Packard car. I would expect they purchased a steering box from an outside supplier by the late 20's. That will give me a sense of how much leverage I actually have at the steering wheel. It may be worthwhile to jack up the front end and try the steering with someone offering resistance at the tire. (I've had plenty of trucks without power steering, so it's not a matter of perception.) In any event, once the front wheels are on the ground ( stationary or in motion), it requires an unreasonable effort to make a turn. I've never given much thought to the ratio of a steering gearbox, but it must be designed either to be easy, or to be quick. It feels like the gear ratio within the steering gearbox wouldn't enable that. It is definitely not possible to turn the front wheels and make the steering wheel spin, however. The steering wheel moves the front wheels through their range of motion quite easily. Likewise the steering column, and likewise the steering gear box itself. When the front axle is jacked up, the kingpins and associated steering linkage have near zero friction. The solution to this problem continues to elude me. Tightening my top kingpin nut should pull the pin up into the axle and seat it firmly, so that the pin will then turn in the bushings, not in the axle. The tapered mount is how Mack truck kingpins work. PS Just researched and answered my own question. Here's a question.Assuming that fixing the kingpin in the axle is the usual method, is doing it with a taper common ? Fingers crossed that I won't need new kingpins.Įven if the taper is worn a little they should still seat firmly if I make the necessary adjustments. I'm hoping that I can get the kingpins out (should be easy since they are tapered), clean up or replace the bushings, and put it back together with the kingpins rotating in the bushings, not in the axle. So I think I've figured out the problem without getting dirty ! With the axle on jackstands, if someone loosened the upper nut on the kingpin, gave it a rap, and then forced grease into it, they might think they were freeing up the pin.In fact, they would be loosening the pin from the axle, where it is supposed to be fixed, and leaving the top and bottom bushings frozen. It stands to reason that this (if it's loose) would rotate fine until you put weight on it, at which point it would be pretty stiff. If it is instead rotating in the axle (where it is supposed to be staionary), that's where the kingpin is tapered. So here's my guess.the kingpin may be seized in the steering knuckle bushings where it is supposed to be rotating. It is the bushed top and bottom, the upper bushing being smaller than the lower, since in between the two it is tapered. The kingpin appears to be mounted in the axle with a taper, which seems like a good design when it's time for replacement. That may help me to understand how the kingpin assembly is supposed to work, and how it might be malfunctioning.įirst off, there is no thrust bearing, just a thrust washer. #KING PINS TRUCK MANUALS#I am fortunate in that I have detailed parts manuals for this truck with excellent diagrams.

BEST FIGHTER PILOT MOVIES MOVIEThis one was entirely focused on the earliest days of flying, and has the most amazing cast of any movie from that period. It’s pure cinema magic.Ī famous stunt pilot, Paul Mantz, was killed flying low trying to simulate a takeoff in the ‘Phoenix’, which is a rather sad epitaph to a marvellously crafted movie with some gripping performances. BEST FIGHTER PILOT MOVIES FULL SIZEThe pivotal scene is the one where it’s revealed that Heinrich Dorfmann (the fantastic Hardy Krüger) only designs model aircraft, when he’s got them to build a full size plane based on their assumptions of his expertise with real aircraft. The cast onboard is to die for, with probably the best selection of English-speaking actors you could possibly assemble. I accept that it only has flying at the start and the very end, but the story of a very unlikely group of individuals marooned in the desert, and their scheme to escape is wonderfully told. By the end, you may believe you can charm your way into flying a plane too.I’m talking here about the original version, and not the poor remake. The film is also known for its fantastic supporting players including Christopher, Martin Sheen, Amy Adams, James Brolin and Jennifer Garner. Steven Spielberg directed the immensely entertaining dramedy, which earned more than $350 million at the box office and nabbed two Oscar nominations (best supporting actor for Christopher Walken and best original score for John Williams). Leonardo DiCaprio gives another winning turn as Frank, while Tom Hanks plays the FBI agent hot on his trail. The 2002 biopic is based on the life of Frank Abagnale, who, before his 19th birthday, successfully conned people out of millions by posing as a Pan American World Airways pilot, a Georgia doctor and a Louisiana prosecutor. "Catch Me If You Can" is about a con man posing as an aviator instead of an actual pilot, but considering he leads everyone in the film to believe he can fly a plane, there's no reason the audience can't join in on the fun. The era of a lone developer making a hit game in their bedrooms is long gone. If you're in the hallway, make sure to stash a scalpel and spare brain on the little tray while you wait for the hammer to come by on a trolley, as well as a needle if you get the chance. Remove extra skull from the front so you have a better shot with the knife. Time here shouldn't be an issue as its a quick process, but going for the brain stem with the scalpel will be. The best strategy is to use the hammer, lightly tab around the skull, removing the minimal amount possible and avoiding hitting the brain. Steam users have the benefit of frame rate and mouse sensitivity here where we do not. If you still need some, become more acquainted with the exact locations of the points to cut out the intestines for less blood loss, and keep that green needle handy, you shouldn't need to remove the ribs at all if you have nimble scalpel fingers.īRAIN SURGERY: have mercy. Fortunately all the level specific trophies should have knocked these operations out already. KIDNEY SURGERY: dealing with the hit detection of the kidneys in the abdomen will be your greatest enemy here, especially in space. Also just restart if the saw doesn't come by in the first 30 seconds. Note for the hallway level: since time is a huge thing and its the damn hallway, stash a heart next to Bob's ear as soon as one comes by, nothing kills the mood more than getting a great time and waiting for a heart to come by, and missing the A++. If you're in the ambulance it should dislodge the lung for you when it jerks around, otherwise remove the top rib as well to get a better hand on it, its quite tricky but the lack of blood loss here is key. The strategy that works here is cutting just the middle two ribs on the right side of Bob with the circular saw, this minimizes blood loss from removing the rip cage, as well as being faster. HEART SURGERY: the requirements for the heart surgeries are brutal, extremely fast (like sub 3 minutes) with very little blood loss. #Surgeon simulator ps4 how to#Get familiar with how to grab scalpels and starting equipment consistently, as good knife handling is key for those delicate cuts. If your blood loss is incredibly low, time isn't a huge factor, but keep in mind I have gotten A's with phenomenally little blood loss, simply because i was in the 5+ minute range.ģ) If you manage to get an A++ on a surgery, keep going and try the next one of the same organ, getting a handle on the surgery is sometimes better than on the environment, OR go outside and get some fresh air. This will give you A++ in most of the harder levelsĢ) aim for sub 4 minute times on levels where blood loss isn't really an issue. Rules of thumb here because in depth step by step guides aren't really that helpful at this point:ġ) Aim for above 5000mL of blood, 4900 at the least. Also assuming you have done many of the level specific trophies for time and blood loss, many levels may already have A++s, however many will not. If you're even contemplating going for this its a safe assumption you're familiar with the games general mechanics so I won't bore you to tears with that. If you've come this far, you can come a little farther. |
